Vitamin A and carotenoids
Sea buckthorns contain eight different types of carotenoids. The most active is ß (beta) carotene, from which retinol forms in the small intestine and liver – vitamin A, nurturing normal metabolism, cell growth and development, increasing mucus membrane durability and immunity to infections. Vitamin A reduces the embedding of mineral in the blood vessels of important organs including those within the liver, brain and muscles. Studies in recent years have proven the ability of carotenoids to combat the functioning of carcinogenic substances which nurture the formation of malignant tumours. Its use in large doses is recommended as a means of combating cancer.
